Content Warning: Mentions of domestic abuse and murder in the rest of the app.

      Disposition:
Elf Encyclopedia : Her greatest strength, by far, is her wealth of knowledge. She's spent over a hundred years hungry to learn and reading all kinds of materials, and her instinct upon coming across something she's never heard of is to research and investigate. She would be an excellent asset in both retaining a database of information, as well as researching unknown areas and concepts.
Bred Leader : Another positive point of hers is she tends to be very cool and collected under pressure. She is very good at logically analyzing a situation and understanding what needs to be done in order to survive or accomplish the task at hand. Her upbringing as a noble prepared her for a wide variety of difficult situations and how to lead and pay attention to the needs of the community. She's not proud of her upbringing and in some cases would gladly reject it, but this in particular has been drilled very deeply into her.
Curiosity : Nia is very curious and excited to expand her wealth of knowledge at any given opportunity. Nothing sparks her interest like a book she's never read or something she's never heard of before. This can be a good thing in many cases -- where would the world be without researchers and inventors and explorers? -- but it can also be a bad thing as she has no problem doing some rather questionable things to obtain that knowledge. What's another curse when you've lived a life like hers?
Closed Off : Her greatest weakness by far is her general dislike for other people. As someone who has been through both physical and verbal hell at the hands of the people she should have been able to trust the most, she expects the worst of everyone and assumes any interest in her is born out of wanting to use her in one way or another. This obviously makes it difficult for her to form relationships with others, as she has chosen after a lifetime of betrayal to close herself off with a rather unpleasant attitude and a refusal to talk about herself. Of course, she longs for something like the love she's seen in fiction she's read, but that's just someone's lonely imagination running wild, right? Still, daydreams of that are what have kept her from withdrawing entirely into hermithood.
Lack of Street Smarts & Skills : Another big weakness of hers is that despite her wealth of knowledge ... she has next to no real-world experience. She spent most of her life sheltered in a castle, knowing only the life of a rich and pampered girl with maids and servants. Since she's been on the run, she's learned more about what real life is like for normal people, but there are still many things she doesn't understand or is oblivious to. She definitely does not know how to do basic tasks like laundry or cook.

      Under pressure:
Seeing as how Nia is on the run for murdering her late husband, the idea that she has been brought to a place that will provide her some safety from the authorities and her father will actually probably allow her to eventually relax a little, rather than feel stressed, as she will be in a position where she feels less like she needs to constantly be watching over her shoulder.

In addition, her curious nature will most likely make her rather excited to investigate and learn more about the place they've found themselves in and record everything she can find. It might also help her to get over her somewhat standoffish attitude, as her desire to learn more about other worlds and cultures will likely outweigh her general dislike for people. (I think it's also fair to say she will probably encounter a lot more people who will treat her nicely here, too!)

For elves, time passes quite a bit differently than it does for humans, so her patience for waiting for things to pan out or come to light may seem fairly high to others. Even in the case of her abusive marriage, she did tolerate it for about ten years before she started plotting to escape; and even then, she did not intend to actually kill him. For this reason I think she would actually find it pretty easy to wait for them to get the pieces they need to potentially solve the problems Noctium is experiencing.

Generally, Nia will probably feel right at home here. However, there is one very important thing she will struggle with a lot! Connection between people is so important here, and given her history of being abused and treated poorly at the hands of her family and former husband, her feelings on this will be complicated. She does want to be loved, to experience intimacy in a safe and happy way, but she's never been in a situation where it felt safe or possible to do so -- and so she has developed many defense mechanisms in place to protect herself, including telling herself that real people don't actually feel love of any kind without some sort of secret ulterior motive, and for that reason it's better to keep to herself entirely. So while it will be something of an initial struggle for her to adapt to the idea of willingly being emotionally or physically intimate with someone, eventually it will be a great way for her to overcome her previous trauma and become a healthier person.

      Condition upon arrival:
She will be in perfect health, although likely in need of some food and a bath as she has been on the run/travelling for some time.

      Abilities:
Nia is a Warlock, so her special abilities are tied to a bond with her patron, Celesticus. If being in Noctium severs that bond for whatever reason, she will no longer be able to use those powers -- but I will list them below just in case it is feasible for her to maintain them or regain them somehow. For reference, her end of the pact she's made is essentially to continue providing her patron with information and secrets, which is not something she really has any objection to doing (and would have plenty of material to continue doing so in Noctium).

      - Face of the Seeker: She can use illusions to disguise her appearance as another humanoid. She is not able to actually change her real body -- just how people perceive it with their eyes. If touched, it will become clear something is "off". (If this needs to be removed or limited in some way that's fine!)
      - Eyes of the Seeker: She can read any written language. (I expect this will need to be nerfed in some capacity in a panfandom setting -- totally fine with this just being languages from her world, or not working at all!)
      - Tongue of the Seeker: Any creature she touches can now be understood by anyone nearby who understands at least one language, as well as understand what is being spoken back at them. (I expect this will need to be nerfed as well. I am totally fine with this either being modified in some way -- for example "she learns what language the creature speaks but cannot actually understand it" -- or being gone entirely.)
      - Hand of the Seeker: An invisible force can be conjured to perform simple tasks like opening a door or window, or carrying something that weighs less than 5 lbs.
      - Familiar of the Seeker: She can summon a little owl friend, who can fly around to view places she cannot. While it cannot communicate with words, she can choose to incapacitate her own body to see through its eyes for brief periods of time (up to 5 minutes). It disappears when attacked. (I see that this can be requested via AC bonuses later, so I assume this will be unavailable for now, but listing it for the sake of having a complete ability list!)
      - Refuge of the Seeker: She can open a small tear in space to step into a "pocket" in another plane briefly. She may spend up to 1 minute inside, but it will only count as a few seconds outside. Only she can go inside, and it can only be done once a day. (I am pretty sure this will need to be entirely nerfed as well. No worries if she can't keep this one!)
      - False Life: She can take some time off her total lifespan in order to heal herself. The amount of time taken off depends on the severity of the wound, but she cannot fix anything more severe than a large gash, nor can she use this ability on others. (Again, totally ok if this needs to be taken down a notch or removed entirely!)
      - Astral Aura: A celestial, radiant aura appears to swirl around her in order to defend her. Coming too close to it can cause the enemy to be blinded or burned by the energy of the aura, and makes it harder to hit her. It lasts for a few minutes and can only be summoned once per day. (Once again, totally fine if this needs to be removed or nerfed.)

Outside of the above "supernatural" powers, she is also adept in the following:
      - Reading & retaining large amounts of material quickly
      - Learning new languages
      - Translating and recording/scribing
      - Fighting with a quarterstaff or a shortbow
      - Riding a horse
      - Sailing a boat
      - Charting the stars

      Inventory:

      - A signet ring with a lapis lazuli stone set in it
      - A book on the commonly known flora and fauna of her world
      - A few small bottles of non-lethal poisons
      - A small knife with intricate metalwork on the handle/sheath
      - A wooden quarterstaff
      - A spare pair of glasses

      Gembond: Emerald
Gem Location: Between her shoulder blades, on her back
